Graham Poll on World Cup refereeing
Tuesday, 13 July 2010
English referee Howard Webb was much-hyped in South Africa this summer, and was rightly awarded the final at Soccer City. On Sunday, his performance in the match between Spain and the Netherlands came under a lot of criticism. Both sides are unhappy, and while I'd suggest both could have made Webb's task easier I think there were significant errors made on the night.
Fortunately, the chaps at Coral Dugout have been running a load of Q&A activity with Graham Poll and very kindly offered me the chance to ask him a question of my own. In the video above, Poll explains the pressures and complications involved in refereeing at a World Cup, pressures and complications he has experience of himself, of course.
A great big "cheers" to the guys at Coral for hooking this up for me, and a quick pointer towards their Facebook page and Twitter account for some worthwhile football chat. Obviously the World Cup is done, but I'm sure there's more to come.
